Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, urged Ghanaians to follow legal procedures for passport applications. He warned against using middlemen, known as “goro boys.”
During a media event on April 23, 2025, Mr. Ablakwa stressed that applicants should not rely on intermediaries. He encouraged citizens to work directly with Ministry officials for a clear and efficient process.
“You do not need a middleman,” he said. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will serve you honestly.” He added that the goal is to make the passport application experience pleasant and convenient.
His comments come as reforms aim to improve passport acquisition. These include launching chip-embedded passports and offering 24-hour services.
Mr. Ablakwa also emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to integrity in public service. He encouraged the public to report any extortion or fraud attempts in the passport application system.
