The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Achiase, Mr. Samuel Brako, has made a formal appeal. He requested the Chief of Army Staff, Major General L.K. Gbetanu, to allocate 20 military recruitment slots each year. This request is specifically for youth from the Achiase District.
Mr. Brako made this appeal during Major General Gbetanu's visit to the Achiase Jungle Warfare School. This school is also known as Seth Anthony Barracks. The visit included military officials, traditional leaders, and local authorities. It highlighted the strong bond between the Ghana Armed Forces and the Achiase community.
Mr. Brako emphasized the community’s historical contributions to national development. He recalled that in 1976, Achiase residents freely gave land for the Jungle Warfare School without compensation or formal agreement. This gesture was made in good faith and aimed at supporting national interests.
He noted that these recruitment slots would provide valuable job opportunities for local youth. They would also recognize the community's ongoing support and sacrifices for the military. “This request is made in good faith for our youth,” Mr. Brako stated.
He added that it would strengthen ties between the Ghana Armed Forces and Achiase residents. The proposed enlistment opportunities will be fairly distributed across all towns in Achiase District, regardless of political affiliation.
While he initially made this appeal verbally during the visit, Mr. Brako plans to submit a formal written request soon. He expressed hope that army leadership would respond positively to his proposal.
Major-General Gbetanu received this request warmly and called it “a call in the right direction.”
Mr. Brako concluded by reaffirming his commitment to advocating for youth welfare and fostering collaboration between the military and local communities for mutual development.
