Art and Advocacy unite to raise Parkinson’s awareness

A unique initiative is blending art and health advocacy. It aims to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Vida Obese leads the project. She is a neurologist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. She also heads the Anidaso Parkinson Disease Foundation.

The project seeks to build a community of advocates. It provides creative therapy for patients as well.

At the event, participants showcased their artistic talents. Students and patients created works that highlighted challenges faced by those with Parkinson’s.

Dr. Obese stressed the need for a national policy on Parkinson’s disease. She also called for including Parkinson’s medications in national health insurance coverage.

Dr. Obese hopes this project will foster understanding and support for people affected by Parkinson’s.

Artist Sharon Dede Padi, known as "Padikie," praised the event's impact. She highlighted how visual arts can communicate complex messages effectively.

She believes artworks can educate the public about Parkinson’s disease and its effects.
