CID confirms arrest of fugitive armed robbery suspect in Togo

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has confirmed an arrest.

Abdul Majibu, a Togolese national, is a notorious armed robbery suspect. He had been on the run since 2024.

Majibu, also known as Adinda Akpo Abdou, was arrested in Togo. This followed a coordinated effort between the Ghana Police and Interpol in Togo.

His arrest resulted from months of collaboration and intelligence sharing. The two countries worked together to track him down.

DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor addressed the media about the case. She revealed that Majibu and an accomplice, Alidu Marzouk, were linked to high-profile robberies in Accra from 2022 to 2024.

Donkor explained that Majibu was first arrested in Ghana on September 4, 2024. However, he escaped custody and fled the country, prompting a regional manhunt.

Thanks to diplomatic efforts between Ghana and Togo, he was re-arrested in Togo. He is now back in custody with the Ghana Police.

DCOP Donkor assured the public that justice will be served. The CID remains committed to bringing criminals to face the law.

On behalf of Inspector-General of Police Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, she expressed gratitude to several parties involved. This includes the Togo National Police Force and officials from the Ghana Embassy in Togo.

Majibu is expected to face trial in Ghana soon.
