The Tema Development Company Limited (TDC) has reversed some appointments. This decision follows instructions from the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah.
Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, TDC's Managing Director, announced this change. He stated that many previous appointments were not based on merit. Some staff members had received privileges due to their connections with higher officials.
Nunekpeku explained that important processes were ignored in these appointments. He emphasized the need to follow proper company and labor policies. "We will establish structures properly," he said, ensuring that qualified individuals receive positions.
Management has published vacancies and conducted interviews for affected roles. "Some sections were disorganized, but we are streamlining everything," he noted.
He expressed optimism about turning things around at TDC. Nunekpeku praised his supportive and innovative management team. They aim to reform TDC for the better in the coming years.
He mentioned ongoing investigations but assured they would not distract from core business activities. The team has clear goals and projects planned for the year ahead.
Regarding the Kpone Affordable Housing project, some contracts have been canceled for various reasons. However, TDC has engaged contractors who have resumed work on-site.
"When we arrived, only foundations were dug," he said about the project status. Amendments have been made to plans, aiming for 800 flats by project completion.
Nunekpeku also highlighted issues with the TDC Club House, which is now abandoned and deteriorating.
On TDC lands, he revealed that almost all commercial land is sold out. He stressed that audits will continue unless halted by the sector minister or president.
"We will ensure accountability for land sales," Nunekpeku stated firmly. He believes no managing director should evade responsibility for such actions.
