The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana has praised the Eastern Regional Police Command in Kyebi. They arrested four suspects linked to the recent murder of a farmer in Asikesu. The Association sees this as a significant step toward justice and farmer protection.
During a press conference on Tuesday, the Association’s President, Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu, commended the police for their quick action. He noted that these arrests show a strong commitment to law and order in rural areas.
“We extend our deepest appreciation to the Eastern Regional Police Commander and his team,” he said. “This act reinforces our collective fight against injustice and violence faced by farmers.”
Despite this progress, the Association urges the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to conduct a thorough investigation. They want to identify and catch those who masterminded the crime. “The true architects of this heinous act must not go unpunished,” Nana Oboadie added.
“Justice must not stop with the foot soldiers; it must reach those who plotted and financed this atrocity.” The Association remains committed to working with law enforcement agencies. Their goal is to protect farmers' lives, livelihoods, and rights across Ghana.
They emphasized the need for a secure environment where farmers can work without fear of violence or intimidation. The murder in Asikesu has caused outrage within the agricultural community. There are calls for stronger protection measures and quicker responses to rural crimes.
“We believe that together we can build a safer and more just society for farmers and all Ghanaians,” concluded the Association.
