Court denies Charles Bissue’s request to travel amid criminal trial

The High Court has dismissed a request from Charles Bissue. He is the first accused in an ongoing criminal trial.

Bissue wanted to temporarily release his passport for international travel. The court ruled on Monday, May 12, 2025. They found that his application lacked sufficient justification.

The court noted that he bought the flight ticket after filing the application. Additionally, the school admission letter he submitted was only provisional.

Prosecutors also questioned the legitimacy of his travel plans. They argued there was no genuine intention to travel.

Following this decision, the case has been adjourned to May 29, 2025.
