Residents of Adom, a suburb in Nungua Adogon, are scared. A rise in crime is disrupting their once-peaceful neighborhood.
Robberies, assaults, and violent crimes are now common, especially at night. Eyewitnesses told journalist Sir Samuel Thompson that crime starts around 6:30 PM. Criminals patrol the streets and attack unsuspecting residents.
The Adom Route has become a crime hotspot. Reports of phone snatching, muggings, and assaults are frequent. One resident shared a frightening experience.
"My girlfriend was walking when two men stopped her," they said. "They snatched her phone and ran off." She fled to call for help but the thieves escaped before police arrived.
This incident reflects a growing sense of abandonment among residents. "We're living in fear every day," another resident said. "We need more police protection."
The lack of a police post is worsening the crime wave. Residents urge the government and local authorities to act quickly for their safety.
"We plead for a police post here," one concerned resident stated. "We need increased night patrols and community collaboration to catch criminals."
Everyone deserves to feel safe at home, they added. Calls have also gone out to local leaders like MP Agness Naa Momo Lartey for intervention.
As the community waits for action, residents hope their concerns will be addressed soon. They want swift steps taken to restore peace in Adom.
