The Eastern North Regional Police Command has shut down a suspected drug storage facility. This operation took place at Nkawkaw Ampekrom in the Kwahu West Municipality. It occurred on May 13, 2025, around 10:00 p.m.
DCOP Isaac Kwadwo Asante addressed the media after the raid. He explained that it followed two weeks of surveillance. The police had been monitoring a residence suspected of housing narcotics.
The house belonged to 40-year-old Hawa Ibrahim. It was identified as a key location in an illegal drug network. During the search, officers found 24 maxi bags containing compressed plant material.
This material is suspected to be Indian Hemp. The total weight and chemical analysis are pending further examination at the Police Forensic Laboratory.
Two individuals were arrested during the operation. They are Hawa Ibrahim and 30-year-old Latifa Adams, believed to be an accomplice. Preliminary investigations suggest that Hawa received supplies from an external source.
Police are currently pursuing this accomplice's identity. Both suspects are in custody and will appear in court soon.
DCOP Asante noted that this operation has reduced illegal drug distribution in the community. He thanked residents and informants for their help during the operation. He urged the public to continue working with law enforcement against drug-related crimes.
"The police remain committed to fighting illegal drugs," he affirmed, "and ensuring community safety."
