Eyewitness disputes AG’s $7m claim in Adu-Boahene trial

An eyewitness, who wishes to remain anonymous, questions the Attorney-General's claims. The Attorney-General stated that GH₵49.1 million equals a $7 million transaction.

The eyewitness argues that, using the government's exchange rate of GH₵5.45 per dollar, the amount is over $9 million. This difference challenges the prosecution's narrative and raises doubts about financial accuracy in the case.

The source also claims that the GH₵49.1 million was for special operations funds. These funds were disbursed in Ghanaian cedis for national security activities, not as part of a dollar transaction.

This view supports Adu-Boahene's defense. He asserts that the funds were used for various operational purposes, including payments to Members of Parliament and election support.

In contrast, the Attorney-General's office alleges that Adu-Boahene and his associates misused these funds for personal gain. They claim he invested in real estate and luxury vehicles.

The prosecution argues that these funds were meant for a $7 million cybersecurity contract with ISC Holdings Limited. They allege this contract was never fulfilled, leading to charges against Adu-Boahene for stealing, defrauding by false pretenses, and money laundering.
