Full operations resume at Ghana embassy in Washington DC Thurs. May 29, Foreign Affairs Ministry says

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the reopening of the Ghanaian Embassy in Washington DC.

The embassy was previously closed due to recalls, suspensions, and dismissals.

Ablakwa stated on Facebook that full operations will resume on May 29, 2025.

He mentioned a new team of experienced diplomats will take over.

This team aims to overhaul the entire system at the embassy.

Ablakwa also noted that a forensic probe and prosecutions will follow.

He emphasized that President Mahama’s government will not tolerate corruption or abuse of office.

According to a ministry statement, an IT team is reconfiguring the embassy's website and payment platforms.

They are removing all unofficial links associated with the embassy’s IT system.

The ministry assured the public that measures are in place to clear any backlog.

They regret any inconvenience caused by these necessary interventions.
