The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has received GHS2,710,227,947.00. This amount covers the first four months of 2025, from January to April. The funding supports the country’s education sector.
This allocation follows the government’s decision in the 2025 Budget. It aims to fully fund the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme through GETFund resources.
The Minister of Finance stated that this disbursement will help address operational challenges. These challenges have affected areas like student feeding and logistics.
Dr. Casiel Ato Forson noted that funding is now streamlined under GETFund. He said there is improved consistency in implementing Free SHS.
He added that previous difficulties with feeding have been resolved. This funding is a major step for Ghana’s flagship education initiative. It aims to ensure equitable access to secondary education nationwide.
