Ghana hosts 2025 Africa Land Forces Summit in Accra

Minister for Defence Dr. Edward Omane Boamah opened the 2025 Africa Land Forces Summit. This event took place at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra. It followed the Ceremonial Change of Guard at Jubilee House.

The summit gathered Army Chiefs and senior military officials from over 50 countries. Among them, 40 are from Africa. They discussed security threats like violent extremism, terrorism, and cyber warfare.

The Africa Land Forces Summit aims to enhance collaboration among armed forces. It focuses on improving defence capabilities and operational effectiveness across the continent. The summit emphasizes information sharing, counter-intelligence, and counter-terrorism efforts.

U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Virginia Evelyn Palmer, delivered a keynote speech. She reaffirmed America's commitment to military cooperation with African nations. The U.S. Government is a key partner in organizing the summit and provided logistical support.

Key attendees included members of the Diplomatic Corps and Major General William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff. Service Chiefs from the Ghana Armed Forces were also present, along with senior officers from Southern European Task Force – Africa (SETAF-AF). Military representatives came from Africa, the United States, and Europe.

The summit highlights Ghana’s role in promoting regional stability and international cooperation on security issues.
