Ghana has made a significant move to improve its healthcare system. The country signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).
This agreement focuses on better data sharing and coordination. It aims to enhance pandemic preparedness and response across Africa.
At a press briefing in Accra, Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh announced this development. He stated that it marks a new chapter for Ghana's health systems. These systems will be more resilient against disease outbreaks.
“This partnership is a strategic investment in our collective health security,” he said. Ghana aims to protect its citizens and support West Africa's health safety.
The Minister emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among African nations. He believes unity is essential for achieving long-term health security across the continent.
Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director-General of the Africa CDC, spoke on behalf of the visiting delegation. He thanked President John Dramani Mahama for improving Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure. Dr. Kaseya praised Ghana's proactive approach and promised ongoing support from the Africa CDC for this partnership.
