Ghanaian Diaspora raises concerns over documentation processes at Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Barcelona branch of the Ghanaian Diaspora has raised concerns. They are worried about the documentation processes at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This includes issues with endorsing documents like birth certificates and police reports.

Hanson Dartey, Acting Secretary of the NDC Spain, expressed frustration. He noted delays and inefficiencies hinder Ghanaians abroad from accessing essential services.

Dartey congratulated Minister Okudjeto Ablakwa for his work in Washington DC. However, he criticized the department responsible for document endorsements. "It is not working well," he said.

He shared that documents often take weeks or months to process. Sometimes, only one person is needed to sign off on them. If that person is unavailable, it causes further delays.

These delays are especially concerning for Ghanaians needing documents for visas and other official matters. "Everything is time-sensitive here in Europe," Dartey explained. Missing deadlines can lead to serious problems.

The Ghanaian diaspora urges Minister Ablakwa to intervene. "We believe he may not be aware of these challenges," Dartey stated. He hopes the Minister will improve the process for Ghanaians living abroad.

While the Ministry has made strides in reforming its services, more improvements are needed. The reopening of the Ghana Embassy in Washington DC was a positive step. However, addressing documentation issues remains crucial for Ghanaians overseas.
