Ken Ofori-Atta: Fmr Finance Minister no longer a fugitive – OSP declares with caveat

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has removed Ken Ofori-Atta from its wanted list.

On February 12, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, declared him a fugitive. He was being pursued for alleged financial misconduct.

In a statement on February 18, 2025, Mr. Agyebeng announced this change. The OSP accepted Mr. Ofori-Atta's request to return voluntarily. They found his proposed return date reasonable.

However, if he does not return as stated, he will be re-listed as wanted. The OSP will then consider him a fugitive again and take legal action.

On February 12, 2025, the Special Prosecutor labeled Mr. Ofori-Atta a wanted person. This was due to his failure to provide a reasonable return date. He had been informed about ongoing corruption investigations against him.

On February 18, Mr. Ofori-Atta communicated through his lawyers about his return date. This marked a significant change from his previous intention to stay away indefinitely.

The OSP rescheduled his attendance based on this new information. As a result, he is no longer considered a fugitive pending his return.

If he fails to attend the rescheduled meeting, he will be listed as wanted again. The OSP is committed to ensuring accountability with fairness and due process.
