MDF unveils new projects to boost development in mining communities

Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw-Kotey is the Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF). She announced new development and empowerment projects for Ghana's mining communities.

During her keynote address at a Stakeholder Forum in Accra, she highlighted the Fund’s commitment. The goal is to ensure that mining communities benefit from national development.

The planned projects will focus on education, healthcare, water, and sanitation. These areas have often been neglected in mining regions.

“Our goal is to ensure that people benefit from their resources,” Dr. Bissiw said. “These projects aim to empower and restore dignity to these communities.”

The Stakeholder Forum included policymakers, traditional leaders, civil society groups, and community representatives. They discussed strategies to maximize local benefits from mineral revenues.

More details about the project rollout will be shared in the coming months.
