The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has announced a fee reduction.
Starting in the 2025/2026 academic year, application forms will cost GH¢150. This is down from the previous fee of GH¢200.
The Minister shared this news during a meeting in Accra. He highlighted the government's commitment to making health education more accessible.
“This reduction aims to remove financial barriers,” he said. It encourages young people, especially from less privileged backgrounds, to pursue healthcare careers.
This change will help ease the financial burden on many prospective students. Thousands apply each year to nursing and midwifery training institutions across Ghana.
Stakeholders in health and education have welcomed this decision. They see it as a positive step toward expanding the healthcare workforce. It also aims to improve service delivery in the long term.
