A major drug bust occurred at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Saturday.
A passenger arriving on an Emirates Airlines flight was arrested. He had 92 slabs of cannabis hidden in his luggage.
The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) reported that the cannabis weighs about 53.60 kilograms.
The suspect's identity has not been disclosed yet. He was intercepted during routine screening upon arrival.
Preliminary investigations have implicated a Ghana Customs officer and another accomplice. All three suspects are currently in custody.
NACOC is intensifying its investigation into this smuggling attempt. Officials believe it may be part of a larger drug trafficking network.
The Commission is committed to protecting Ghana’s borders from illicit drug trade. Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
