**Karen Baaba Sam's Fight for Justice**
Karen Baaba Sam, 29, is involved in a domestic violence case. She is also in a child custody dispute with her ex-partner, Nana Kwadwo Adjei. Ms. Baaba Sam claims that Adjei is spreading false narratives through media and law enforcement. She is fighting for her rights and those of her 5-year-old daughter.
In an interview after a court ruling on February 4, 2025, she expressed determination to protect her daughter legally. The Achimota District Court set aside an arrest warrant she called "illegally" obtained by Adjei with police help. Her lawyers argued the warrant had no legal basis.
Senior State Attorney David Beecham did not oppose the motion to revoke the warrant. As a result, Ms. Baaba Sam is no longer at risk of arrest and can continue her daily life without fear.
Despite this victory, she worries about misleading reports from newspapers like Chronicle and Metro Lens. These reports falsely accuse her of defying court orders regarding custody of her daughter. She clarified that she is legally challenging these orders as well.
Ms. Baaba Sam stated that court rulings made without proper notification are void. She believes the orders obtained by Adjei will face the same fate as the now-invalid arrest warrant. She accused him of spreading misinformation through paid media campaigns.
**Background on Abuse Allegations**
On January 20, 2025, Karen Baaba Sam revealed years of abuse from Nana Kwadwo Adjei. This abuse included physical, verbal, and emotional harm since their relationship began in 2016. Initially promising, their relationship deteriorated by 2018 when she became pregnant.
The first incident of domestic violence occurred in December 2018 when Adjei returned home drunk. When she questioned him about his whereabouts, he physically assaulted her while she was pregnant. “I was more scared for my unborn child than for myself,” she recalled.
Despite filing reports at East Legon Police Station, no action was taken against Adjei. He allegedly boasted about his influence within law enforcement, making it hard for her to seek justice.
Her breaking point came in April 2023 when she saw Adjei with another woman at a restaurant. After attempting to leave with him, he publicly humiliated her while standing by idly. That night he allegedly assaulted her again in front of their daughter.
“He also assaulted two family friends who tried to intervene,” she recounted sadly. During this chaos, he kicked their daughter causing her to fall and cry.
Determined to escape the situation, Ms. Baaba Sam ended the relationship in December 2023 but faced threats from Adjei afterward regarding gifts he had given her—including their daughter's school car.
Fearing further abuse after moving out in February 2024, she experienced a robbery on her first night in a new home where all valuables were stolen except one necklace—one that Adjei later demanded back from her.
Authorities suspected someone close orchestrated the attack leading to police protection for Ms. Baaba Sam as legal battles continue over custody and allegations of domestic violence.
