Media reports claiming police officers were detained for arresting a judge are false. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) called these claims baseless and without merit.
On April 23, 2025, CID issued a statement signed by Superintendent Joseph Benefo Darkwah. The statement clarified that on April 7, 2025, a Circuit Court Judge filed a petition. She reported that on December 13, 2024, four officers from the Adenta Divisional Police Command harassed her. They also assaulted her court clerk and wrongfully towed her vehicle.
The judge noted she had not received a response after lodging a formal complaint at the Adenta Divisional Command. The CID began an investigation into her complaint. As part of this process, they invited several officers to CID Headquarters to share their side of the story.
These officers included Inspector Francis Adjei and G/Sgt. Dasebre Oti Boateng. They left the headquarters immediately after giving their statements. At no point were they detained, contrary to media reports.
The CID urges the public to disregard these false publications. They assure that investigations will continue according to established procedures. The Police Administration supports officers who follow rules but will investigate any misconduct promptly.
