President John Dramani Mahama has launched the One Million Coders Programme. He called it a transformative step for Ghana's digital future. This initiative signals the country's ambition to lead in global technology.
The launch took place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. President Mahama emphasized its importance in shaping Ghana’s future. The programme aims to train one million Ghanaians in digital and coding skills over the next few years.
“We are not just launching a programme; we are building a blue economy,” he stated. “We are sending a clear message: Ghana is ready for the digital age.”
He added that this initiative fulfills a campaign promise. It is also part of the government’s Reset Ghana Agenda, which focuses on inclusive development.
Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Sam Nartey George, spoke at the event too. He highlighted how the programme will equip citizens with essential skills. “We must use science and technology as tools for growth,” he said.
The One Million Coders Programme aims to empower youth and create jobs. It seeks to build a strong digital economy that competes globally.
