Prioritise welfare of teachers in rural areas- Ex-DED to gov't

Joseph Donkor, the outgoing District Education Director for Kwahu Afram Plains South, has made an appeal to the government. He urged them to prioritize teacher welfare in rural communities. This support is crucial for improving education outcomes in underserved areas.

At his retirement ceremony in Tease, Mr. Donkor expressed concerns about basic amenities for teachers. He highlighted the harsh conditions that affect morale and lead to high attrition rates. “To retain teachers in rural communities, we must improve living conditions,” he said.

He emphasized that investing in teacher welfare is essential for rural education. It can enhance the quality of teaching and learning. Mr. Donkor retires after 34 years of dedicated service in education.

Williams Frimpong, a spokesperson for the Eastern Regional Education Directorate, praised Mr. Donkor's leadership. He recognized his commitment to promoting access to education in remote areas. Frimpong encouraged other district directors to follow Donkor’s example to uplift education standards across the region.
