A group of angry youth vandalized the Greater Accra Regional Office of the Electoral Commission (EC). This happened amid tensions over the Ablekuma North parliamentary election results.
The attack took place on Friday morning. It coincided with a collation exercise that had been suspended multiple times due to chaos.
Reports indicate that the attackers were supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). They were seen wearing t-shirts branded with the party's logo.
Eyewitnesses said the group stormed the EC office. They ordered staff to leave before vandalizing property, including louvre blades, doors, and office equipment.
The motive behind the attack is still unclear. The Electoral Commission has not yet released an official statement about it.
In response, security personnel have been deployed to restore calm. Their presence aims to ensure the safety of electoral officials in the area.
