The Winneba Divisional Police Command has arrested Joshua Arthur. He is a former convict linked to the murder of Prof. Amedeke. Prof. Amedeke was a lecturer in the Chemistry Department at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
Prof. Amedeke was found dead behind his home in Effutu Gyahadze. His murder shocked both the community and the university. Reports say Joshua Arthur allegedly slit the professor's throat and disemboweled him.
He then buried the body in a shallow grave behind the house. Community leader John Quaye shared these details during an interview with journalist Samuel Nana Tawiah.
Joshua Arthur is currently in custody at Ateetu Police Station in Effutu. He is assisting police with their investigation into the murder.
Winneba Divisional Police Commander ACP Ibrahim Opoku confirmed the incident. Police began searching after receiving intelligence about the crime. They later retrieved Prof. Amedeke's body from his compound.
The motive for this murder is still under investigation. The police promise a thorough inquiry to ensure justice is served.
The University of Education, Winneba, and local residents are deeply saddened by this loss. Prof. Amedeke was known as a dedicated academic and respected member of society.
