A 35-year-old woman has died in Adzimakorfe, a suburb of Ho. She was allegedly struck by lightning near her house around 6 PM. The woman, Selina Kuma Kle, sold kenkey at Ho Bankoe Sorkode Station.
An eyewitness, Mr. Christopher Ametefe, shared his account with Class News. He was staking lotto when Selina arrived to stake her own ticket. They talked briefly about gossiping in the area. He advised her to focus on her life instead.
After placing his bet, he went home but returned to correct a mistake. In less than five minutes, it started to rain heavily. Suddenly, there was a loud thunderclap and lightning struck Selina.
Mr. Ametefe expressed his shock at the incident. A family member received a call from her sister-in-law about Selina's death. She rushed to the scene and confirmed that Selina had indeed passed away.
Mr. Ruddy Kle, Selina's elder brother, shared his thoughts on the tragedy. He believes that lightning can strike someone who is cursed or walks into its path during a storm. He described Selina as a quiet person who likely had no enemies.
Given her peaceful nature, he suspects something unusual happened and wants an investigation. Traditional leaders from Ho Bankoe performed rituals for Selina’s body before it could be moved.
The family attempted to report the incident to the police for assistance in transporting the body but received no help. They ended up taking Selina’s body to the Ho Teaching Hospital morgue themselves.
Residents are fearful after this incident as such events have never occurred in their area before.
