5 hospitals handed over by Health Ministry yesterday are part of Akufo-Addo's legacy - Eastern Regional NPP

The Eastern Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made a statement. They say the five new health facilities are part of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s legacy. These facilities were handed over by the Ministry of Health yesterday.

The hospitals are located in Jumapo, Kwabeng, Nkwatia, Adukrom, and Achiase. While their completion is positive, the NPP is disappointed. They feel the current government did not acknowledge where these projects originated.

The NPP claims these facilities were not started by the current administration. Instead, they resulted from Akufo-Addo’s vision and a €79 million loan for 11 hospitals and one polyclinic. Five of these projects were designated for the Eastern Region.

Despite this, the government's recent statement ignored Akufo-Addo's role. They tried to present these projects as their own initiative.

The NPP criticized this omission as a deliberate attempt to rewrite history. They believe it denies the public knowledge of who truly supported healthcare developments.

They argue that ignoring past achievements undermines transparency in governance. A responsible government should recognize contributions from previous leaders, regardless of political differences.

In addition to the five hospitals opened yesterday, other major healthcare projects are underway in the Eastern Region. These include the Eastern Regional Hospital Expansion and Agenda 111 projects.

The NPP urges the current government to acknowledge these foundational contributions. They stress that Ghana's development should be based on truth and transparency.
