New data from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) shows that women in the Bono Region account for the majority of HIV cases.
As of September 2024, out of 11,401 Persons Living with HIV and AIDS (PLwHAs), 8,481 were female, while 2,727 were male.
Despite the figures, all patients are currently on treatment, according to Bono Regional HIV Coordinator, Emmanuel Obeng-Hinneh.
Speaking at a stakeholder meeting in Sunyani, he also revealed a 64% viral load testing coverage with an 88% suppression rate.
The Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC) pledged continued support for NGOs and called for collective efforts to strengthen prevention and treatment strategies in the region.
