The Brogya Foundation, a charity focused on child care and health, has received the “Outstanding Humanitarian Initiative Award.” This award was presented at the Ghana Outstanding Community Leadership Awards (GOCLA) on May 30, 2025. The event took place at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
The GOCLA Awards celebrate social change makers and organizations. They recognize those driving progress in underserved communities. The awards highlight leadership rooted in service and humanitarian efforts.
Brogya Foundation was honored for its initiatives to help vulnerable children in Ghana. Notably, it donated life-saving medical equipment to Agogo Presbyterian Hospital. This included infant incubators and phototherapy machines, which reduced infant mortality rates due to jaundice.
Nana Bediako Brogya Sarpong is the founder and president of the organization. He is also the Dompeahene of Asante Akyem Agogo. He stated that this award reflects compassion, collaboration, and community support.
He dedicated the honor to partners and supporters who believe in their mission. Beyond healthcare, Brogya Foundation supports education as well. They distribute learning materials and over 1,000 pairs of shoes to underprivileged children.
The foundation regularly hosts events to uplift marginalized youth through community engagement. In its most ambitious project, they partnered with Dr. Michael K. Obeng from Restore Worldwide Foundation. Together, they offered a week-long free surgical mission at Agogo Presbyterian Hospital.
During this mission, over 300 reconstructive surgeries were performed for individuals with physical deformities. Patients came from across Ghana and neighboring countries for care. This initiative restored not only their health but also their dignity and self-confidence.
