Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has revealed that Ghana’s cholera outbreak, which started in Ada West in October 2024, has spread to five regions, resulting in 6,145 recorded cases, 719 confirmed cases, and 49 deaths as of February 13, 2025.

While the outbreak initially affected Greater Accra, Central, Western, Ashanti, and Eastern regions, Akandoh noted that active cases are now concentrated in the Central Region, particularly in Agona West and Effutu.

Despite the severity, he assured Parliament that new cases are declining due to enhanced surveillance, treatment centres, and oral cholera vaccination efforts.
