Court issues bench warrant for businessman over GH¢149,000

An Accra Circuit Court has ordered the arrest of Lukeman Abdul-Karim. He is a 27-year-old businessman. He failed to appear in court.

Abdul-Karim allegedly collected GH₵149,000 from a complainant. He promised to provide a CFA equivalent but did not deliver.

When the case was called, Abdul-Karim was absent. The prosecution requested a bench warrant for his arrest.

The court, led by Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah, granted this request. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

The case has been adjourned to June 16, 2025.

According to the prosecution, Daniel Attah is the complainant and a businessman. Abdul-Karim lives in West Hills, Accra. He falsely claimed to operate a forex bureau.

In January 2025, he convinced Attah he could exchange Cedis for foreign currencies. He collected GH₵149,000 from Attah.

After receiving the money, he failed to deliver the CFA equivalent and made excuses.

On January 25, 2025, Attah reported him to the police. This led to Abdul-Karim’s arrest.

During investigations, he refunded GH₵20,000 but did not return the rest of the money.
