Dr. David Tetteh appointed to NHIA Governing Board by President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. David Tetteh to the NHIA Board. Dr. Tetteh is an accomplished pharmacist and marketing expert. This appointment aims to improve Ghana’s health insurance system under the next NDC government.

Dr. Tetteh has extensive experience in pharmacy, marketing, and health policy across Africa. He is currently the Managing Director at Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre. His work involves drug exportation to ten African countries. He is known for his expertise in drug registration and insurance schemes.

Dr. Tetteh holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and an MBA in Marketing. He is also a final-year LLB candidate at KAAF University College. His diverse education makes him a strategic addition to the NHIA leadership.

In the pharmaceutical field, Dr. Tetteh is respected for his knowledge of Community Pharmacy practice. He has successfully navigated regulatory environments in various jurisdictions. His efforts have improved access to essential medicines aligned with national health insurance frameworks.

Dr. Tetteh has shown commitment to public service through roles in the NDC Professional Forum. He has served as Branch Chairman, National Operations Coordinator, and Acting Director of the Pharmacists Forum. Additionally, he was Director of Research for the Western North Regional Communications Bureau during elections.

He received the 2022 GhanaWeb Excellence Award in Health for his contributions to healthcare delivery.

His appointment signals a focus on expertise and innovation in Ghana’s healthcare financing system. Stakeholders have welcomed this news, calling him a visionary leader who will strengthen NHIA's mandate for universal health coverage.

As part of the NHIA Board, Dr. Tetteh will help shape policies for a more equitable health insurance scheme for all Ghanaians.
