Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse is the Acting CEO of the EPA. She recently called for stronger efforts to support girls' education in Africa. This is especially important in male-dominated fields.
Her remarks were made on April 8. They came during her keynote address at the National Launch of the Africa Educates Her Phase II campaign. The event was themed "Unlocking Girls’ Potential, STEM and Beyond." It aimed to raise awareness about barriers preventing girls from accessing education in Ghana and the sub-region.
Prof. Klutse emphasized the EPA’s commitment to gender-sensitive environmental governance. She highlighted the need for inclusive policies that promote educational opportunities for girls. She stated that science should reflect societal needs, including equal access and representation.
"We are committed to mainstreaming gender and environmental governance actions," she said. "Science must reflect society’s discourse, which includes ensuring access to education."
She encouraged young girls to recognize their worth and power. Prof. Klutse urged everyone to support efforts that empower girls. "Every girl should know that her voice matters," she noted. "Let’s talk to each other and ensure every girl in Ghana is empowered, educated, and unstoppable."
