A new chapter in community healthcare has started in Berekuso, Eastern Region. This follows the opening of a modern clinic. The clinic is the result of a six-year partnership between FirstBank Ghana and the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central.
The new Berekuso Community Clinic replaces an older facility. That facility served the community for nearly 20 years under difficult conditions.
The upgraded clinic features improved infrastructure and modern medical equipment. It aims to provide quality healthcare to Berekuso and nearby communities.
The commissioning ceremony had many dignitaries present. Notable attendees included Rotary International President-Elect Mario César Martins de Camargo and District Governor Florence Maame Hagan. Also present were FirstBank Ghana Managing Director Victor Yaw Asante and Rotary Club President Albert Bahun Wilson.
Mr. Camargo described the project as “a symbol of compassion.” He said, “We are not merely commissioning a building; we are igniting hope.” He emphasized that this project lays the foundation for a healthier community.
District Governor Hagan noted that the clinic aligns with Rotary’s focus areas. These include maternal health, disease prevention, and water sanitation. She highlighted that staff training will ensure long-term sustainability with Ghana Health Service integration.
Victor Yaw Asante expressed pride in being part of this transformative project. He stated, “Our collaboration has significantly improved lives in Ghana.” He added that this project symbolizes their commitment to stronger communities.
Rotarian Albert Bahun Wilson remarked on the significance of the new clinic. He said it represents hope and dignity for Berekuso residents. “This facility will lay the foundation for a healthier community,” he concluded.
