Nurses at public health facilities in Kumasi are agitated. They plan to escalate their industrial action if the government does not respond.
Leaders of the striking health workers say their members feel "emotionally and financially sick." They are turning away patients to highlight their urgent needs.
At Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Martha Yiadom represents the Ghana Registered Nurses’ and Midwives' Association (GRNMA). She expressed distress over the government's delay in implementing agreed conditions of service.
Ebenezer Acquah, Assistant Secretary of GRNMA, noted stagnant service conditions. He said this situation is causing high attrition rates among nurses and healthcare practitioners.
Acquah emphasized that implementing the agreed conditions is a test of the government's commitment to health workers' welfare.
