President John Dramani Mahama has assured the timely completion of the 250-bed Sewua Hospital in the Ashanti Region, addressing critical gaps in healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the Akwasidae celebration at the Manhyia Palace on January 19, he emphasized the hospital's potential to alleviate the heavy patient load at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Mahama highlighted the urgent need for electricity, water supply, and road access to operationalize the hospital. He also noted that the move would allow renovations at KATH without disrupting its services.
The Sewua Hospital project has faced political and contractual controversies, with former President Akufo-Addo criticized for commissioning the facility prematurely, despite its incomplete state.
President Mahama’s commitment aims to restore public confidence in delivering functional healthcare infrastructure.
