KATH CEO relieved of his duties, gov't to announce replacement soon

Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah, CEO of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), has been relieved of his duties. He will hand over to a new CEO next week.

This decision is effective immediately. It followed a meeting with Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandor.

Sources from JoyNews report that the minister thanked Prof. Addai-Mensah for his commitment. He played a key role in modernizing KATH.

Prof. Addai-Mensah has served as CEO since 2022. He oversaw important initiatives like the Assantehene’s Heal KATH project.

Despite having two years left on his contract, he leaves behind significant achievements. He led the 'Heal Komfo Anokye Project' (HeKAP) to upgrade KATH into a premier health facility.

When he started, there were only two dialysis machines at KATH. Now, thanks to his efforts, there are over 20 machines for renal treatment.

He also contributed to major retooling efforts and built a modern pharmaceutical block.

The government plans to announce his replacement soon.
