The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has disbursed GH₵1 million to six hospitals under its free dialysis program, covering payments for July, August, and September 2024.
This initiative, which began in June, has significantly improved access to dialysis services across Ghana.
The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) received the highest allocation, with other hospitals like Korle Bu and Cape Coast also benefiting.
The program provides free or subsidized dialysis sessions based on age, ensuring that essential care is more accessible to patients without financial strain.
KATH is also seeking additional dialysis machines to meet growing demand.
