Patients with hemophilia at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital are facing a medication shortage, reportedly due to delays in import permits by Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority.
This shortage has led to the suspension of prophylaxis treatments, with hospital supplies reserved for urgent cases.
Concerned parents have voiced their worries, but the hospital's Deputy Medical Director, Dr. Yaw Opare Larbi, clarified that while treatment medication is available, low supplies have forced the hospital to prioritize emergency care over preventative doses, aiming to stretch resources until new shipments arrive.
