Health stakeholders in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) Municipality are calling on the government to repurpose the COVID-19 levy into a dedicated health emergency fund.
Speaking at a conference, KEEA Municipal Director of Health, Martin Samani Daanko, emphasized the need for sustainable funding to respond to future health crises.
The stakeholders believe redirecting the levy would enhance preparedness and strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system beyond the pandemic response.
They urged authorities to ensure the fund supports emergency medical supplies, disease surveillance, and improved healthcare infrastructure to prevent future public health challenges.
