The Ministry of Health (MoH), Ghana Health Service (GHS), Gavi, and Zipline have launched a partnership to expand drone-based vaccine delivery to underserved communities.

This initiative aims to introduce new vaccines, including the RTS,S malaria vaccine, and assess the cost-effectiveness and health impact of drone delivery.

Zipline, which has already delivered over 15.5 million vaccines since 2019, successfully collaborated during the COVID-19 pandemic to distribute over three million doses.

The new expansion targets 68 districts, particularly in the Eastern Region, aiming to increase vaccine coverage by over 25 percentage points.

Gavi has secured $3.5 million for the initiative, which will enhance access to vaccines and medical supplies, especially in remote areas, improving healthcare outcomes.
