Shaifest 2025: Bra Jay partners with Pauline Ngugi to support ALS patients

Ghanaian artist Bra Jay is raising awareness for ALS in Africa. He has partnered with ALS Africa for an event called the Shaifest.

Bra Jay is working with Pauline Ngugi, an ALS advocate from Germany. Pauline specializes in Intensive Medicine and supports ALS patients in Africa. Bra Jay is a musician and the ALS Advocate for West Africa.

The Shaifest will highlight the urgent need for accessible ALS medications in Africa. ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. While research has advanced globally, access to treatments remains limited in Africa.

Through Shaifest, Bra Jay and ALS Africa aim to improve access to medication. They emphasize the need for equitable healthcare solutions across the continent.

Bra Jay stated, “As an artiste, I feel a responsibility to raise awareness about critical health issues.” He believes the Shaifest is not just a celebration but a call to action for policy change.

The Shaifest will be a three-day festival in Dodowa, Ghana from May 2-4, 2025. It will feature musical performances, sporting events, and community activities. The festival aims to unite artists, athletes, and advocates while fostering dialogue on health and wellness.

In addition to entertainment, there will be panel discussions with medical experts and health advocates. These discussions will focus on mental and physical health for those living with chronic illnesses like ALS.

The festival begins with a cleanup exercise on Friday, May 2. Saturday features football games and an artist night. On Sunday, attendees can enjoy a trip to Chenku Waterfalls on May 4, 2025.
