Surgical department elevator wasn’t fixed because of Akandoh’s visit – Korle Bu CEO

The Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, has refuted claims that a malfunctioning elevator in the Surgical Department was fixed due to a visit by Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the ranking member of Parliament's Health Committee.

Dr. Ampomah clarified that the elevator repair had been scheduled before the MP's visit and the timing was purely coincidental.

He explained that the hospital had already approved the procurement of a new custom-made lift, a process that takes several months.

He emphasized that the repair was not influenced by external pressure but was part of ongoing maintenance efforts.
