'No more protection from the bench' - Fifi Kwetey says NPP in fear after CJ’s suspension

Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the NDC, claims the NPP is panicking. He believes their legal protection is crumbling.

On JoyNews’ PM Express, he said the NPP fears justice now. Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Sackey Torkornoo can no longer “shield” them.

Kwetey stated that the NPP feels unsafe with her departure. They worry about losing their influence in legal matters.

He dismissed claims that the NDC targets the Chief Justice for politics. “We are looking for justice,” he insisted.

Kwetey emphasized that those who abuse the system should face consequences. If guilty, they must be held accountable.

His comments follow a prima facie case against the Chief Justice. Her position is now under serious scrutiny.

Kwetey stressed that any removal must follow due process. No one, even top judiciary officials, is above accountability.

“If she cannot uphold justice, then charity begins at home,” he argued. He believes if she has done nothing wrong, there’s no issue.

When asked if the NDC fears legal challenges in court, Kwetey replied: “No, we are looking for justice.”

He noted a prima facie case has been established against her.

Kwetey praised the integrity of the Council of State and other advisory bodies. He trusts their judgment and believes they won’t conduct a witch hunt.

He defended President John Mahama’s character as well. “He is not petty-minded or vindictive,” Kwetey stated.

Kwetey reflected on a fundamental principle: justice is essential for freedom. The country’s soul thrives on fairness and accountability.

He believes creativity must coexist with justice and fairness. This situation isn’t about vendetta; it’s about principle and accountability.

If wrongdoing occurs at any level of judiciary power, justice must prevail. Kwetey warned that political fallout for the NPP may just be beginning.
