Dr. Arthur Kobina Kennedy, a physician and politician, has criticized the NPP. He believes the party needs an apology tour instead of a thank you tour.
On Joy News’ PM Express, he stated that the NPP has much to atone for. “We should be apologizing to the country for our bad governance,” he said.
Dr. Kennedy argued that the party must address its declining public trust. He called for accountability from leaders of previous governments and agencies. Their mis-governance and arrogance contributed to the party's defeat.
He emphasized that genuine repentance would help restore the party’s image more than gratitude displays. “That will give us more credibility with the public,” he added.
Dr. Kennedy also expressed concerns about internal tensions within the NPP after its primaries. He noted that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s selection process involved some violence, including someone losing an eye.
He warned that not enough healing has occurred since then. “Even on this Thank You Tour, some slaps have been exchanged,” he said.
This indicates a need for reconciliation before going public with their message. Dr. Kennedy suggested that the timing of the tour seems rushed to secure political ground.
“It is clear that Dr. Bawumia is trying to make his case ahead of his competitors,” he remarked.
He stressed that electoral success comes from sincere introspection, not performance tours. “The public is watching,” he warned, urging them to show they’ve learned from mistakes.
“A Thank You Tour doesn’t do that,” he concluded.
