‘Rich’ Wontumi can afford GHS50m bail – Bongo MP

Charles Bawaduah, the MP for Bongo, is confident in Chairman Wontumi. Wontumi is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He is currently under investigation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). The investigation involves alleged financial transactions with COCOBOD and EXIM Bank.

Wontumi must meet bail conditions of GHS50 million. He needs to provide two sureties as part of these terms. His legal team, led by MP Andy Appiah-Kubi, is working on this. They have denied any allegations of improper payments related to COCOBOD. They assert that all transactions are legitimate.

On Channel One TV’s The Point of View, Bawaduah expressed his belief in Wontumi's ability to meet the bail conditions. He stated that he believes Wontumi owns properties worth GHS50 million. "Satisfying a bail condition of GHS50 million should not be a problem," he said.

Wontumi remains in EOCO custody while efforts continue to fulfill the bail requirements.
