Stephen Amoah, the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, has issued a warning. He claims Ghana's justice system is failing. It can no longer protect ordinary citizens.
Amoah spoke at the Save the Judiciary demonstration. He noted a breakdown in law enforcement and judicial independence. This leaves vulnerable citizens, especially women, without legal protection.
“Our mothers should rush home after selling in the market,” he urged. “If anything happens to you, there is no law to protect you.”
He linked this insecurity to systemic failures in justice institutions. Political interference and corruption are major issues, he said. The recent suspension of justice officials is also troubling.
“When your child is defiled in the future, you’ll be finished if you don’t have money,” he warned. He described a two-tier justice system that favors the wealthy over the poor.
Amoah called on Ghanaians to recognize these dangers. He referred to it as “a paralyzed legal system.” Without urgent reforms, faith in governance could collapse.
The Save the Judiciary protest occurred amid rising tensions over political interference. Recent actions against top judiciary officials have raised concerns, including those involving the Chief Justice.
