The Frema Foundation has launched the ‘Dignity in Bloom’ Period Pad Project. This initiative supports young girls with sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions. It promotes dignity, equality, and opportunity.
The two-day launch occurred on Thursday and Friday. It took place in Wiamoase and Jamasi, Ashanti Region. The Foundation donated 1,200 reusable sanitary pads to Junior High School girls from ten schools. Girls at the Ashanti School for the Deaf in Jamasi also received pads.
All students got free, eco-friendly period pads. They also received drinks, food, chocolate, and other items. The reusable pads last up to three years. They aim to prevent school absences due to lack of menstrual products.
Additional donations supported students with special needs at the Ashanti School for the Deaf. These included rice, sugar, soap, washing powder, cooking oil, tinned fish, drinks, bottled water, disinfectants, exercise books, and pens.
A representative of the Frema Foundation said this project is about more than hygiene. “It is about dignity, opportunity, and equality,” they stated. “Every pack donated promises a girl a future full of possibilities.”
The event featured menstrual health education sessions led by ECO-ME Africa. There were interactive engagements with students, teachers, and community leaders. Attendees enjoyed music and dance sessions that created a fun atmosphere.
The ‘Dignity in Bloom’ initiative shows Frema Foundation's commitment to addressing period poverty. It helps young girls realize their full potential through confidence and sustained education.
