AG must resign or be sacked – Nana B fires

Henry Nana Boakye, known as Nana B, is the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He has called for action against Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine. He suggested that Dr. Ayine should either resign or be removed from office.

Nana B made these comments after discussing Ghana’s Constitution. He expressed concerns about the Attorney General’s performance in his duties. In an interview on Joy News, he referenced Article 88 of Ghana's Constitution.

This article outlines the core responsibilities of the Attorney General. Nana B noted that the Attorney General is the principal legal advisor to the government. The role includes initiating and conducting criminal and civil prosecutions for the state.

He quoted from the Constitution: “The Attorney General shall be responsible for all prosecutions.” All offenses prosecuted in Ghana are under the authority of the Attorney General.

Nana B emphasized that this role involves representing the state in court. The Attorney General also has authority in civil cases involving the state. Additionally, he must have audience in all courts across Ghana.

Despite these expectations, Nana B believes Dr. Ayine has not fulfilled his obligations. There are accusations of corruption and inefficiency surrounding his office. These remarks follow public criticisms from figures like Gomoa Central MP Kwame A-Plus, who previously labeled Dr. Ayine as corrupt.
