Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced plans to introduce a 24-hour passport service to streamline processing and reduce delays.
Speaking on TV3 on Saturday, February 8, he emphasized the need for a more efficient and citizen-friendly system, stating, “It is unacceptable for Ghanaians to endure long waiting periods for passports.”
Ablakwa, also the MP for North Tongu, assured the public of urgent reforms, including digital solutions, service expansion, and decentralization to improve accessibility.
He called for collaboration between government agencies and the private sector to make the initiative successful, pledging transparency and efficiency in passport issuance.
“This is about serving the people better. We will ensure a seamless passport acquisition process for all Ghanaians,” he affirmed.
